They pull out a lot of stunts and surprises everyday. Just when I got home this morning from Simbang Gabi, I found my crays mating in their tank. I was like “OMGWTFBBQ! What are they doing?!” After a few moments, I remembered that they ARE mating. Just got surprised to what I saw. I sent these photos to some experts on crayfish keeping and hoping that I’ll get good results.

Just last week, one of my crayfish died because of stress during molting. Two days before that, another cray died because he got stuck in his molt. X_X Quite sad to see your pets die especially when you’ve been taking care of them that long. On one cray now lives to have been under my care for several months now. A few days ago, I was able to get another cray and a few plants. Here are some pictures.

Looking at what animals they have in store just gives us a thrill and kinda like makes us dazzle at their colors. We just visited some pet shops here in Davao today and we’ve seen some very interesting fishes. First is that I’ve finally seen a goldfish as big as a pomelo LOL Quite big @_@ And I’ve finally seem some fresh water cleaner shrimps at Jaws Petshop today. Quite expensive for those very little shrimps. They’re as big as a tip of a pencil but they are pretty colorful. Anyway, we’ve seen some very cute baby blood parrot cichlids in one of their aquarius. They’re white and small. They’re quite unique as to have no tail and all. Their shape is very interesting and quite interactive with their own kind. I’ve seen our new parrot fish checking out one of our crays when we first introduced them into our tank. I hope they’ll survive and not get eaten by our crays XD Anyway, here’s some photos of them.

Though they are called Blood Parrot Cichlid, those without the tail are called Heart Parrot Cichlid because of the shape of their body. Just like a heart and no tail. I got interested with these fish because of their deformity. They are hybrid fish. If you are to need some information about taking care of them, you can visit www.parrotcichlids.com.

We have Cois in our tank too. So far they’re not doing anything harmful to any of their tankmates. Its the crays that I’m worrying about. There’s one who like to catch and eat some of my danios. From 8 down to 5 danios. The pleco seems to be a bit of a nuisance especially when the crays are molting.

After 5 months of being under Sarah’s care, from the very small and cute rabbit has finally turned huge and yet still very cute rabbit. :D Quite nice to see our pets to have gotten big and healthy. I guess that investment was pretty much worth it to make Sarah happy with Tinky. Thank you for taking care of her. Job well done :D

P.S. I still haven’t gotten to play with her after those months. :D

Just this afternoon, I noticed that one of my cray had molted. I left him undisturbed and just added some food for the fishes and the other crays before I took a nap. When I woke up, I saw him without his claws, missing a leg and lost his antenna. Poor guy, must have gotten harrassed by the other crays. I hope the other crays would molt without having to experience this. I suspect that one of the crays is about to molt.  Hope the injured cray would be fine.

So far, they’ve have gone thru quite great progress. Two of the five crayfish have died during molting. One of them got attacked after molt and the other one got too stressed. These crayfish are quite more active at night rather than in day so I wasn’t able to help them.A good thing now is that they have a bigger tank rather than the fish bowl they were placed in. I’m quite happy they seem to be doing fine right now. I’m still looking for some more accessories that would do well with the aquarium. I don’t have a filter yet, only an airpump. I bought a sponge filter but a power head seems to be more appropriate to be used with it. Anyway, I’m happy how things are going with them. :D

LOL At 50 pesos a piece, I bought two of ‘em and sadly got two males rather than a pair which I was asking from the lady at the shop. Anyway, it gave me more reasons to come back and buy two more of ‘em. I’ll make sure that I’ll get females! I searched the internet on how would a person tell if a crayfish is male or female. Here’s how..

Notice the two very tiny legs protrude upwards in this crayfish. That’s a male. :D

In this crayfish, it doesn’t have those tiny legs called swimmerets as male crayfish do. So this one is a female crayfish.

Hoping that they’d get big XD At least they don’t need to be maintained that much and feed on almost anything as they are omnivores. :D

So if you are looking for a pet in an aquarium and something that doesn’t require a lot of maintenance, get these! Crayfish / Fortune Lobsters.

I love pets especially those that are cuddly, warm and don’t make a lot of noise and can be trained – dogs and cats perhaps. I also like fishes especially the very colorful ones. My girlfriend also likes pets and she owns a pair of hamsters. Because of this, we went to different pet shops here in Davao and got a bit disappointed to some of them as most of the pet shops who sell dogs and cats don’t even know what breed they are! Most pet owners are quite specific with the type of breed they  want to take care of and are not the typical “when we see it and like it, we buy it!” type of people. Just yesterday at a local pet shop, there was man who came in and was asking if they had hamsters. He just bought because the hamsters were big and didn’t even know what breed he wanted. I guess he probably wants to give it to someone, probably his kids. A great thing about some of the local pet shops is that they have wonderful stock of pets! I’ve even saw this glowing pink anemone in one of their salt water aquariums. Such a wonder sight. I never knew such creatures existed. @_@ And, one of the pet shops had this very tiny dark colored and white bellied hamster. We just had to buy it because of its cuteness. It was a Dzungarian Dwarf Hamster as far as I’ve researched about it. Yeah, I had to research because the one attending to us didn’t know. We also saw some very cute dogs who were very nice to have us play with them a little bit.

And I wanted to see a very specific breed that I haven’t yet seen in pet shops here in Davao. And that is the Siberian Husky. @_@ I’ve heard they are very friendly and loyal dogs. I went to DavaoSale.com in their pet threads there and saw some really neat photos of the Siberian Husky. I didn’t know there were a lot of people owned such dogs here in Davao. And I got a bit disappointed of the price XD Dogs are really expensive these days. I asked a friend about how dogs are priced today and he said that there could be breeds that cost at around thirty (30) thousand pesos (30,000 php). I was shocked @__@ And it could be more expensive when it is a female! Oh I so want to have a husky. Its not a common pet here that you could just see lying around in pet shops. D: And I don’t have the money to buy for it. I don’t even have a job yet LOL And my blogging hasn’t been paying much. X_x

I’m hoping that this post would likely get me a Siberian Husky and let some pet shop owners be more aware of the type of breeds they are selling. :D Though I’m not saying that they don’t have wonderful selections of pets, its just that we want to know what breed those pets are because we are searching for some particular ones.
